Pre-purchased Use and Standby.
Require consuming and standby devices to be sold only in conjunction with a year (or more) of its electricity use. When a buyer presents the associated "use purchase" certificate to their electricity supplier, their electricity bill is reduced by the relevant amount.
So manufacturers have an incentive to minimuse the energy use, and buyers have an incentive to buy efficent products at the time when the commitment to consumption is made.

Mini wind Turbines to be placed on old peoples home to top up their electricity for the winter months..if excess saved then can be sold back to energy authority.. Most houses should be able to generate a modest amount by placing on roofs or maybe a central one that would feed a row of terraces etc..

Instead of toasters, how many computers would that wind thing run. As computers increase thats gotta be the one of the fast increasing energy uses today

Local councils need to waive or at least reduce the cost of the building control fee for the installation of solar technology.

Also the cost of installation needs to come down to enable more people to take advantage of the sun. Perhaps interest free loans for the less well-off?

Sustainable local transport in the form of electric folding shopper bikes (with regenerative braking and solar recharging - see www.rabbittool.com). This is immediately achievable and has the advantage of being totally interlocking with any available public transport system.

The development of sustainable family transport in the form of 2 back to back recumbent tandems with partial fairings and solar electric assist. The bikes telescope to make them smaller for train transport or single person use. Two can be joined together side by side for occasional social family use or to carry heavy loads or babies. I have a design for this and would be interested in a collaborator to take it to prototype.

I want a TV company to track a family giving up their car and trialling this system.

global warming isn t a real thing its a story about a possible future. the story is of a epedemic in the future. most people dont care about it. now compare that to a real epidemic i.e. cancer people do care about it. in short the story of global warming creates no emotional involvement with consumers. grantdavidson@hotmail.co.uk i am a 4th year design student with far more simple concepts which speak the lanuage of consumers get in touch if you want to invest and want to make money.

David Hurst : great idea! Or rather than reimburse the user, just scrap VAT on devices and create a tax equivalent to their standby usage in 1 year. Efficient devices would cost less, inefficient ones would cost more.

A credit card that shows the price and energy costs of a purchase. Maybe bank a few points for energy savers along the way.

Create a credit system whereby surplus ecoenergy is transfered to another ecoenergy production. eg Electricity surplus from domestic wind turbine when you're out of the home is diverted to Hydrogen production plant earning you Hydrogen credits. Eco Power for Eco Credits.
