At the heart of this inclusive design education resource is a series of
case studies drawn from the Hamlyn Research Associates Programme at the
RCA. Each illustrates a particular inclusive design approach undertaken
by a young designer in collaboration with a research partner drawn from
industry or the voluntary sector.
The intention is to demonstrate how design
practice across a range of disciplines - architecture, communication,
product design, packaging design etc - can routinely adopt an inclusive
approach if such factors are considered at the outset and user consultation
is built into the development process.
 |
the challenge
Each case study defines a particular inclusive design challenge,
introduces the profile and motivation of the external research partner,
and outlines the research methods used to undertaken the project
- particular working closely with users.

results
The results or findings or outputs of the project are then briefly
described, as well as the implications and issues that arise that
can be applied generically to other projects and products.

classroom and studio projects
Finally, a series of classroom/studio projects are proposed related
to the particular focus of the case study. These are intended as
a stimulus for discussion and as a learning aid that can act as
a catalyst for self-generated projects. Email your own suggestions
for inclusive design student projects to hhrc@rca.ac.uk
