Severe Weather Warning: communicating danger and disaster
Thursday 6 May, 6.30 pm (doors open at 6.00 pm)
Dynamic Earth, Holyrood Road, Edinburgh EH8 8AS
Recent extreme weather conditions have highlighted just how susceptible many of us are to the elements. What are the risks associated with severe weather such as flooding, high winds or cold snaps? How can we best communicate these risks to different communities? Who is ultimately responsible for ensuring that the messages have been heard and understood?
Join Ewen McCallum, Chief Meteorologist, the Met Office, David Faichney, Leader of the Flood Warning Development Team, Scottish Environment Protection Agency and a representative from the social sciences to discuss how we can and should communicate the risks associated with extreme weather.
The event will be chaired by journalist and broadcaster Toby Murcott
